Abbott, Museo Pambata partner and launch ed-tech platform for kids’ experiential learning

-

ONE year into the pandemic, parents must have run out of ideas to make their kids active, well-informed and at the same entertained. Keeping the quarantine boredom at bay alone is quite a challenge. To make them educationally engaged and challenged is another. Thanks to the country’s improving internet connectivity, mobile app and other online educational platforms make the kids happy with their thinking skills tested and their experiences of arts, culture, and even science truly enjoyable. This is what celebrity Mom Bianca Gonzales attested during the recent virtual launch of the Similac Gainschool Explorers mobile app.

Global healthcare leader Abbott, in collaboration with Museo Pambata, launch the mobile app to support Filipino parents in their children’s healthy growth and brain development. Designed to stimulate and nurture curiosity, problem-solving, and logical thinking skills in children, the app provides the benefit of learning through interactive experiences. In place of a real field trip, normally held as part of the school curriculum, the platform will offer access to virtual tours and immersive experiences of arts, culture, and science.

“The Museo Pambata is a one of a kind children’s interactive museum that has been inspiring Filipino children to discover and experience life beyond the classrooms every year,” says Bambi Mañosa-tanjutco, president, Museo Pambata Inc.

The app will feature its first jointly created virtual tour, “Batang Katutubo” that offers a look into Philippine cultural heritage and provide children with three different experiences. The “Musika” exhibit encourages kids to try their hand at playing traditional musical instruments such as the libit and gangsa. Seed planting games in the “Kalikasan” exhibit help children learn more about local plants and conserving the environment. The “Kasuotan” exhibit gives them the opportunity to try on various native costumes through the power of Augmented Reality (AR).

“For over 80 years in the Philippines, Abbott has been dedicated to helping people live healthier and fuller lives through our life-changing technologies and products for people of all ages,” said Dr. Jose Rodolfo Dimaano Jr., nutrition medical director for Asia Pacific, Abbott.

“While proper nutrition is the foundation for children to learn faster, grow to their fullest potential, and live their best lives. The creation of the mobile app is part of our continuous effort to support parents in their children’s growth and development journey,” he added.

The Similac Gainschool Explorers mobile app is now available for download on both Android and IOS devices.
