Desidido nang mag-diet? Kumonsulta muna
DAHIL usung-uso ngayon ang iba’t ibang uri ng diet at fitness program, pinaalalahanan kamakailan ng health expert ang publiko na magpakonsulta muna sa doktor bago sumubok ng anumang diet plan. Nang kapanayamin ng Philippine News Agency (PNA), sinabi ni Philippine Heart Association (PHA) President Nanette Rey na ang nauusong diet at fitness regimen ay maaaring makaapekto sa kondisyon ng puso kung walang wastong medical advice. “Like ketogenic diet, it’s a high-fat diet, and it does not discriminate on what fat you’re taking, you could be taking the good fats and the bad fats. If you’re taking it for three months, your cholesterol will go up, and if you’re taking a lot of bad fats, it will deposit in the veins and they will block the veins,” sabi pa niya. Aniya, ang iregular na pagpa-fasting ay isa pang paraan ng pagpapababa ng timbang, ngunit hindi ito umano inirerekomenda sa mga taong diabetic at sumasailalim sa medikasyon. “It will require you to fast for 16 hours which is too long for a diabetic patient. When a
person goes under a diet or fitness regimen, it’s always best to consult a doctor first. Find out what your risks are, which diet or fitness regimen would be best for you,” aniya.
Sa pagpili ng diet, binigyang-diin ni Rey ang importansiya ng pagpapanatili nito at pagkain nang dahan-dahan at sakto lang.
“In the long run, it is very seldom that you could sustain a fad diet, you can do that for two, four months or so but you can’t sustain it for a long time. Each kind of diet has advantages and disadvantages, but generally taking more vegetables and less fats, that is much better than fad diets,” sabi pa niya.
Dagdag pa niya, ang pag-iwas sa pagkain ng matatamis, matataba at maaalat ang pinakamainam pa ring paraan para panatilihing tama ang timbang at malusog ang puso.
