Voter’s verification, high-tech na rin

Dahil unang beses na gagamitin ngayong taon ang Voter Registration Verification System (VRVS), inaasahan nang madadagdagan nang hanggang limang minuto ang proseso ng pagboto sa Mayo 13, 2019.

“We expect that the use of VRVS will not exceed five minutes. This is aside from the expected time for an ordinary voter of about 10 minutes,” sabi ni Commission on Elections (Comelec) Spokesman James Jimenez.

Dahil inaasahan nang mas matatagalan ang botohan ngayong taon, sinabi ni Jimenez na pinaaga ang halalan na sisimulan ng 6:00 ng umaga, sa halip na dating 7:00 ng umaga.

“This is the reason why our voting time was made 6AM to 6PM. We hope that that will accommodate the additional delay,” ani Jimenez.

Naniniwala naman si Jimenez na sa mapapabilis ng VRVS ang proseso ng pagboto sa mga susunod na eleksiyon.

“When we go into the full implementation in the future, that is the only process that will be used. At that point, it will be even quicker since we have gone digital,” aniya.

Una nang sinabi ni Comelec Special Bids and Awards Committee Chairman Thaddeus Hernan na layunin ng automation sa voter registration verification na mapabilis ang pagberipika ng Board of Election Inspectors sa pagkatao ng botante.

Gagamitin ang VRVS sa lahat ng polling precincts sa Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao, Maynila, at Quezon City; at sa piling lugar sa Pangasinan, Cavite, Cebu, Negros Occidental, Zamboanga del Sur, at Davao del Sur.
