Gymnastics at Muay, pambato ng bansa sa SEA Games

BILANG host, inaasahan ang matikas na ratsada ng atletang Pinoy para sa overall championship sa 2019 Southeast Asian Games sa Nobyembre 30 hanggang Disyembre sa Clark at satellite venues sa Subic ,Cavite, Batangas at Manila.

At kapwa nagpahayag nang kahandaan ang Gymnastics Associaton of the Philippines (GAP) at Muay Association of the Philippines (MAP) para maibigay sa Philippine delegation ang tagumpay.

Ayon kay GAP president Cynthia Carrion, sa 19 events na nakataya sa gymnastics, malaki ang tsansa ng Pinoy sa 11, tampok ang pitong gintong medalya mula kay Carlo Yulo.

“We’re good for 11 events and Carlo (Yulo) is good for seven gold medals. He’s ready and his training under Japanese coach is getting better and better.

“Aside for the SEA Games, GAP is already preparing a program for Yulo for his participation in tournament abroad all with ranking points so he can qualified for 2020 Tokyo Games,” sambit ni Carrion.

“He’s better that last year’s Asian Games, physically and mentally,” aniya.

Iginiit naman ng Muay na makakaya nilang manalo ng anim hanggang ptiong ginto sa 11 event na paglalaban sa biennial meet.

“Pinaghahandaan na ng Muay Association of the Philippines ang darating the SEA Games kung saan may 11 events ang muay,” pahayag ni national coach Preciosa Delarmino sa kanilang pagbisita sa Usapang Sports ng Tabloid Organization in Philippine Sports (TOPS) kahapon sa National Press Club sa Intramuros, Manila.

“We have a chance of winning the gold in more than half of the events, especially the women events,” aniya.

Tinukoy ni Delarmino ang mga women athletes na sina Rudza Abubakar ng Zamboanga sa 45-kg at Jenelyn Olsim ng Baguio sa 54-kg division ng combat event.

Malakas din umano ang tambalan nina Mariah Trenyce Co at Rusha Mae Tarrate ng Baguio sa wai kru (Thai boxing dance) event.

Kinatigan ni Mardel Claro, tanging Pinay na international muay technical official, ang pahayag ni Delarmino.

“We have the Arafura Games in Australia in April, the IFMA (International Federation of Muaythai Amateur) Senior World Championship in Bangkok, the World Martial Arts in Korea in August, the IFMA Youth in Turkey in September and of course, the SEA Games in November,” sambit ni Claro.
