‘Best of the Seas’ ng ‘Pinas sa International Food Exhibition

sa International Food Exhibition (IFEX) Philippines 2018 ang mga seafood products ng bansa sa May 25 hanggang 27 sa World Trade Center sa Pasay City. May temang “The Best of the Seas”, layunin ng IFEX Philippines 2018 na maisulong ang seafood products ng bansa sa mga mamimili sa iba’t ibang dako ng mundo.

Ang IFEX ang pinakamalaking export-oriented food show sa bansa na dinadayo ng mga mamimili, importer, at retailer sa pandaigdigang merkado.

“Now an annual event, IFEX Philippines continues to be the largest and widely anticipated food trade event in the country,” sabi ni DTI Undersecretary for Trade and Investments Promotion Group Nora K. Terrado.

“For its 12th edition, we will highlight the Philippines’ finest seafood to satisfy the growing global demand for marine product and coastal cuisines, along with other exquisite food products across the globe,” sabi ni Terrado, na Officer-in-Charge din ng Center for Trade Expositions and Mission (DTI-CITEM) ng Department of Trade and Industry.

Ayon kay Terrado, tampok sa IFEX ngayong taon ang Regional Seafood Pavilion na magbibida ng iba’t ibang produktong seafood mula sa bawat rehiyon sa bansa. “We are tapping the country’s most marine-abundant coastal regions from Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao. This is where we will bring key suppliers to make it easier for buyers to source in one pavilion the best fish and marine products, such as tuna, milkfish, prawns, tilapia, and other seafood from the Philippines,” sabi ni Terrado.

Batay sa datos ng Philippine Statistics Authority, ang mga iniluwas ng bansa na sariwa at preserbadong mga isda noong 2017 ay umabot sa $294 million; nasa $164 million naman ang halaga ng nai-export na seaweeds at carageenan; at ang sariwa, chilled,at frozen na sugpo at hipong nailuwas ng bansa ay nagkakahalaga naman ng $56 million.

Ayon sa Seafood Trade Intelligence Portal, ang Pilipinas ang ika-11 pinakamalaking producer ng cultured seafood at ikalawang pangunahing pinagmumulan ng seaweeds sa mundo. Kabilang sa mga pangunahin nitong aquaculture species ang bangus, tilapia, at sugpo.

Itinampok sa IFEX noong nakaraang taon ang mga pagkaing ASEAN, dahil ang bansa ang punong abala sa ASEAN Summit 2017.

Dinayo ang food expo ng aabot sa 11,000 lokal at dayuhang bisita, na kinabibilangan ng 2,057 mamimili mula sa mga pangunahing global retail giants at supermarkets.
