INDIA, OMAN TO BECOME EVEN CLOSER IN FUTURE
MUSCAT: India’s Ambassador to Oman hopes that the two countries enjoy even closer ties of friendship, as the Sultanate enters the 50th year of the Renaissance under His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said.
Speaking on the occasion of his nation’s 73rd Independence Day, Munu Mahawar told Times of Oman that His Majesty has in the past and continues to play a huge role in strengthening the close cooperation that exists between India and Oman.
“On the occasion of the 73rd Independence Day of India, I extend my heartiest congratulations and felicitations to all members of Indian community living in the Sultanate of Oman,” said Mahawar. “On behalf of the Government of India and the Indian community in Oman, I would like to extend greetings and best wishes to His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said Said and the Government and People of Oman for the continued peace, progress and prosperity of Oman as we enter the 50th year of blessed renaissance under the leadership of His Majesty.”
He added: “I thank His Majesty and the Government of Oman for their abiding commitment to expand and strengthen the strategic partnership between India and Oman as well as for providing a conducive environment for the Indian community to live and work in Oman. I am confident that my fellow Indians in Oman, who consider Oman their second home, shall continue to work with diligence and dedication, making their valuable contribution to the development and prosperity of both India and Oman.”
Mahawar also described the field of collaboration that India and Oman could potentially embark on. The steady pace of growth of the Indian economy, as well as financial reforms undertaken by the government, would mean more expected growth for the nation.
“As we celebrate the 73rd Independence Day, we feel proud of our achievements,” Mahawar said. “Today India is a diverse and dynamic nation, with about 1.3 billion Indians working together to fulfill their dreams and aspirations. Our economy has been growing at a steady pace of over seven per cent; emerging as the fastest growing major economy of the world. A series of flagship initiatives and financial reforms undertaken by Government have significantly improved the business environment of India.
