Geely Holding improves ranking in Fortune Global 500

MUSCAT: For the 8th year in a row, Zhejiang Geely Holding Group, China’s largest privatelyo­wned automotive technology company and the makers of Geely and Volvo cars, rose 47 places in the 2019 Fortune Global 500 to 220th after its revenues last year reached $49.665 billion. Since 2012, Geely Holding has risen 255 places in the Fortune Global 500.

Collective­ly, the brands under Geely Holding sold more than 2.15 million vehicles in 2018. Geely Auto and Lynk & Co under Geely Auto Group sold 1,500,838 vehicles in 2018, an increase of 20.3% from the previous year, marking the first time it has breached the 1.5 million mark.

During the first half of 2019, Geely Holding has continued to steadily develop. In the first six months of 2019, Geely Auto Group, made up of Geely Auto and Lynk& Co, reported a combined sales of 651,680 vehicles.

In the field of new energy, 2019 marks the unveiling of the new pure-electric brand, Geometry, under Geely Auto Group. The new brand represents the importance Geely Holding has placed on the developmen­t of new energy in this fast-changing era.
