MSM index ends higher

The top gainer was Gulf Investment Services, up by 4.11 per cent, while Ooredoo was the top loser, down by 0.72 per cent.

MUSCAT: Broad based buying activity in all sectors lifted the MSM30 Index to 5,048.78 points, up by 0.76 per cent. The MSM Sharia Index closed at 732.67 points, up by 0.14 per cent. Galfar Engineerin­g was the most active in terms of volume Bank Muscat led in terms of turnover. The top gainer was Gulf Investment Services, up by 4.11 per cent while Ooredoo was the top loser, down by 0.72 per cent.

A total number of 628 trades were executed on Wednesday, generating turnover of OMR1.32 million with 9.47 million shares changing hands. Out of 33 traded securities, 21 advanced, 3 declined and 9 remained unchanged. Local Investors remained net buyers for OMR62,000 while GCC and Arab investors were net sellers for OMR39,000 followed by foreign investors for OMR23,000 worth of shares.

Financial Index had strong gain of 1.04 per cent to end at 7,219.03 points. Gulf Investment Services, Oman & Emirates Holding, National Bank of Oman, Al Anwar Holding and Al Madina Takaful increased 4.11 per cent, 3.90 per cent, 2.70 per cent, 2.24 per cent and 2 per cent, respective­ly.

Industry Index rose 0.52 per cent to close at 6,791.18 points. Galfar Engineerin­g, Oman Fisheries, Gulf Internatio­nal Chemicals and Al Anwar Ceramics gained 4 per cent, 2.54 per cent, 1.99 per cent and 1.55 per cent, respective­ly. Al Jazeera Steel and Al Maha Ceramics declined by 0.39 per cent and 0.36 per cent, respective­ly. Full story @ timesofoma­n.com/business
