-

MUSCAT: Awasr, Oman’s first specialised broadband service provider, is all set to revisit its previous Comex success with an impressive presence at the forthcoming IT, Telecom and Technology event at the Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre.

Awasr’s participation in the 27th edition of Comex, to be held from March 28 to April 1, will be an opportunity to highlight its strategic position as the first specialised broadband service provider and also demonstrate its expertise in ensuring a smooth transition to the ‘smart city’ concept, which has taken over the imagination of tech consumers in the country.

The ‘Oman Smart City Summit’ held alongside Comex 2017, will focus on building a digital community and a ‘smart’ country under the theme of ‘ Empowering Smart Nation’. The theme of Comex will also concentrate on ‘digital life’, which will impact the future of both businesses as well as individuals and also pave the way for developing the new digital economy.

To meet this growing interest, Awasr will have experts at its pavilion to demonstrate its readiness for a smart city. Visitors will be in for an educative experience, as the company representatives will be at hand to explain the reach and network achieved in the last one year and also focus on the conclusive plans to expand its services within the capital and beyond to maximise the goals of a smart city.

With hints of special offers for visitors and interactive events being finalised to keep the momentum up, the five-day show promises to keep Awasr’s ball of success rolling. Regular visitors to the event would recall that Awasr had floated special promotional offers at the last show, including a free month’s subscription for customers who registered during the event.

In addition to that, and to promote Awasr customer loyalty and along with the Awasr 1st Anniversary, all of Awasr existing customers will be upgraded to a higher speed for one month time to give them the benefit of experiencing even better speed.

Its second outing will showcase its corporate and home packages and offers, making it a fruitful visit for clients from different sectors. It will act as a platform to create awareness regarding the emerging ‘smart city’ concept, which has been receiving growing media attention in the recent past.

“With a 150 percent mobile penetration rate and a 77 percent mobile broadband penetration, the onus is on service providers like us to meet the challenges of turning the concept of smart city into a reality. Oman’s young population has well demonstrated its readiness to adopt and adapt to every new technology and the time is now to overcome the challenges in the smooth transition to a smart city and enjoy the benefits of technological excellence,” said Issam Al-Ismaily, head of Marketing, Awasr.
