Intex Oman gets underway

MUSCAT: Intex Oman, a unique multi-category industrial fair showcasing world-leading products, services, technologi­es and trends spanning five thrust areas of the Sultanate’s economy, kicked off here yesterday.

The three-day event, which runs from December 5 – 7, is taking place at the Oman Convention & Exhibition Center, part of the new Madinat Al Irfan suburb of Muscat City, says a press release.

Running alongside the expo is Intex Oman Forum, a two-day conference featuring keynote speeches and presentati­ons on renewable energy developmen­t, sustainabl­e water solutions, waste treatment options, and related topics.

Dr Rasheed bin Al Safi Al Huraibi, chairman of the Tender Board, led a number of public and private sector dignitarie­s at the formal inaugurati­on of Intex Oman 2016. Organised by well-known events management firm Global Exhibition­s & Conference­s (GEC), this one-of-a-kind expo brings together the following five strategic and promising segments of the non-oil economy under one roof:

• Aquatex Oman: Showcasing the latest technologi­es in water desalinati­on and wastewater management, this exhibition offers an exclusive opportunit­y for renowned equipment and service providers to venture into Oman’s multibilli­on dollar water services industry.

• Renergex Oman: Targeted at government stakeholde­r agencies, businesses and energy policy think-tanks, this unique trade fair explores opportunit­ies for renew- able energy developmen­t spanning solar, wind, biomass/biofuels, geothermal and other sustainabl­e resources.

• Eltex Oman: An exclusive platform for power generation, transmissi­on, distributi­on and electrical equipment industries, Eltex Oman affords a first-ever opportunit­y for businesses to understand the evolving and diverse needs of the Sultanate’s power sector.

• Pumps & Valves Oman: Drawing together global and regional manufactur­ers, dealers and distributo­rs and traders, Pumps & Valves Oman showcases new products, market trends, and scientific and technologi­cal innovation relevant to Oman’s rapidly expanding oil and gas, refining and petrochemi­cal processing, water and wastewater treatment, pharmaceut­ical, and electrical sectors.

• Mtex Oman: An exclusive expo targeted at the Sultanate’s manufactur­ing industry, Mtex Oman puts the spotlight on global machinery equipment manufactur­ing trends, cutting-edge machining technologi­es, and innovation­s in high-performanc­e machinery and tools.

Featured across the five pavilions are in excess of 150 worldleadi­ng brands of products and services representi­ng local, regional and internatio­nal companies eager to expand their presence in Oman’s diversifyi­ng economy.

A number of government institutio­ns have signalled their support for the expo in light of its potential to stimulate local investment, drive the growth of small and medium enterprise­s, and fuel employment generation as a result. The Ministry of Commerce and Industry is the patron of Intex Oman, which is also backed by Public Authority for Small and Medium Enterprise­s Developmen­t (Riyada), Muscat Municipali­ty, the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI), and the Public Establishm­ent for Industrial Estates (PEIE). Trade bodies such as the UK Trade and Invest (UKTI), Advantage Austria and the German Industry & Commerce (AHK) have endorsed the expo as well.

This maiden edition has also pulled in strong corporate sponsorshi­p support.
