Indian actor opens Cochin Gold’s newly renovated showroom

MUSCAT: South Indian film star Jayaram recently inaugurate­d Cochin Gold’s renovated showroom in Ruwi.

Cochin Gold, from Assarain Gold group which has 25 years’ experience in making and selling jewellery, opened the showroom in Ruwi last year, says a press release.

“As part of the relaunch, the jewellery will offer surprising making charges for jewellery purchased by cash. There will be no making charge for 22K gold coins, zero per cent deduction on 22k gold exchanges and 50 per cent discount on diamond jewelry purchases,” Jagajith Prabhakara­n, managing director of the jewellery, said.

“We will also offer gold coin for every diamond purchase above OMR200 in addition to guaranteed gifts on every purchase,” Prabhakara­n added.

First sale was done by South Indian film star Swetha Menon. The lamps were lit by South Indian music director Vidhyadhar­an master and Indian School Darsait principal Dr. Sridevi P Thashnath. “Those possessing Bank Sohar credit cards can join zero per cent installmen­t scheme to purchase jewellery. An advance booking facility is available for customers since September 10, 2016 through which customers can pay 25 per cent amount and ensure lowest gold rate on purchase,” the jewellery officials added.

Latest government data reveals that Oman has spent more than OMR300 million in 2015 to feed expats’ craving for the yellow metal in 2015. The latest report from National Centre for Statistics and Informatio­n (NCSI) revealed that in 2015, Oman imported 1,500 tonnes of jewellery, including natural and artificial pearls, precious stones, semiprecio­us stones, precious metals, normal-coated metals, traditiona­l jewellery and coins.

The value of such jewellery items stood at OMR324.90 million and the Sultanate’s imports of such items surged by 88.2 per cent, compared with 2014 (300 tonnes worth of OMR172.6 million).
