VOK celebrates Onam with colourful event
MUSCAT: Dubai based Radio Voice of Kerala 1152AM held a colourful programme ‘Monchulla Onam’ to celebrate the Kerala’s national festival Onam with Eid felicitation. The event was an interesting mix of cultural activities and traditional songs.
The programme was inaugurated by Dr. Rabeeullah, chairman Shifa Al Jazeera Medical Group. In his inaugural speech, Dr. Rabiulla stressed the need for philanthropic attitude from the business people all around the world.
“We see the world full of poverty and a large chunk of people suffering and leading miserable life to an extent where they cannot even meet their basic need of food, clothing and shelter. If business people open their mind for charity works, and start charity donation, proverty can be eradicated from the world in no time,” he added.
Dr. Sridevi PT, principal of Indian School Darsait, who was recently adjudged as the best teacher of CBSE, was honoured during the programme, says a press release.
The cultural evening began with the visitation of King Mahabali, the mythical people loving King of Kerala, to whom Onam celebration is associated with, along with the performance of Thanima Al Khuwair team. The event was entertaining to audience with a variety of programme such as comedy skits by Manorama Channel’s Marimayam fame Niyas Backer and Sneha. Famous singer Yusuf Karakkad, Muhsin Edayur, TV anchors and singers, Shihab and Shabana,
fame Mehrin and Sri Lakshmi entertained the audience with their soulful rendering of songs.
The audience were also entertained by a magic dance show by Niyas Kannur. Noted radio presenter Reji Mannel anchored the show. Oman Angana also presented a few performances during the event.
