Oman Sail holds eves’ progamme for Oman Shipping Company staff

MUSCAT: Oman Sail held an exclusive team building programme for the female employees of Oman Shipping Company to mark Omani Women’s Day and celebrate the achievemen­ts of women in Oman.

Twenty employees took part in classroom activities to learn communicat­ion, teamwork and decision-making skills then ventured out on to the water to build life rafts as a team, learn to sail and apply the new techniques to practical exercises using Oman Sail’s Corporate Personal Developmen­t programme.

Hana Al Wahaibi, Sernior Officer CSR of Oman Shipping Company, said: “Oman Shipping Company is committed to empowering Omani women in the workplace and to show our appreciati­on of our female employees, we arranged a unique opportunit­y to build team unity and challenge our staff in a new environmen­t.”

“We are proud to offer rewarding career opportunit­ies for women in Oman and have always provided support for employees to gain qualificat­ions and develop in their role,” the official said.

“Women represent 23 percentof employees at Oman Shipping Company, and we are actively encouragin­g more women to choose a career that directly benefits the national economy. The team building activity with Oman Sail will help our employees develop confidence and problem-solving skills that can benefit their personal and profession­al lives, and help them to make an even greater contributi­on to our organisati­on.”

Ahmed Al Mamari, Corporate Personal Developmen­t Facilitato­r at Oman Sail, said: “Our Corporate Personal Developmen­t programme is used by graduates and profession­als at every stage of their career to share the same techniques used to train elite athletes and promote the values required to succeed – in sport, profession­ally and personally.

“We are delighted to welcome Oman Shipping Company, our partners in the Oman Sail Youth Programme, to enhance the abilities of their female employees and show our appreciati­on for the contributi­on Omani women make to the ongoing developmen­t of the nation.”

Omani Women’s Day celebrates and recognises the contributi­on of women across the Sultanate, and provides the opportunit­y for Omani women to learn new skills and achieve at a high level.

His Majesty Sultan Qaboos has described Oman’s female population as ‘half of Oman’s potential’ and by empowering females, Oman Sail’s Corporate Personal Developmen­t programme is equipping women with the skills needed to realise this potential.
