Index falls marginally

Top gainer was Gulf Investment Services, up by 2.26%, while Al Madina Investment­s, down by 6.49%, was the day’s top loser

MUSCAT: Oman’s general index — MSM30 Index — ended on a flat note at 6,431.37 points, down marginally by 0.01 per cent. The MSM Sharia Index closed at 994.26 points, down by 0.05 per cent. Phoenix Power was the most active in terms of volume as well as turnover. Monday’s top gainer was Gulf Investment Services, up by 2.26 per cent, while Al Madina Investment­s, down by 6.49 per cent, was the day’s top loser.

As many as 1,261 trades were executed in trading session generating turnover of OMR5.08 million. Out of 45 traded securities, 10 advanced, 12 declined and 23 remained unchanged. Omani Investors were net buyers for OMR743,000 while foreign investors were net sellers for OMR739,000 followed by GCC and Arab investors for OMR4,000 worth of shares.

Financial Index retreated 0.09 per cent to close at 7,734.47 points. Gulf Investment Services, Oman & Emirates Holding, Bank Nizwa, Bank Sohar and Ahli Bank increased 2.26 per cent, 1.72 per cent, 1.37 per cent, 0.54 per cent and 0.47 per cent, respective­ly. Al Madina Investment­s, Gulf Investment Services, Al Izz Bank, Al Anwar Holding and declined by 6.49 per cent, 4.17 per cent, 2.50 per cent, 0.98 per cent and 0.81 per cent, respective­ly.

Industrial Index closed at 8,340.05 points, down by 0.07 per cent. Oman Cables, Al Maha Ceramics and Oman Fibre gained 0.44 per cent, 0.36 per cent and 0.10 per cent, respective­ly. Oman Fisheries, Galfar Engineerin­g and Oman Cement declined.

Services Sector Index declined by 0.05 per cent, closing at 3,471.71 points on Monday’s trading session. Renaissanc­e Services and Phoenix Power gained 0.71 per cent and 0.68 per cent. National Gas and OIFC shares decreased 2.17 per cent and 0.83 per cent, respective­ly.
