ISD organises excellence award ceremony
MUSCAT: Indian School Darsait (ISD) organised academic excellence award ceremony in the school auditorium recently. Abdul Rahim Kasim, president, school management committee, was the chief guest on the occasion.
The programme started with a prayer song followed by the traditional lighting of the lamp. Dr Sridevi P. Thashnath, principal welcomed the chief guest and other dignitaries to the function.
She lauded the achievements of the students and the support of their parents and the untiring efforts of the teachers for making the school reach the pinnacle of success. She thanked the school management committee for the support and encouragement being rendered to all activities of the school, says a press release.
The chief guest gave away gold medals and certificates to the toppers of Class XII Board Examination (Science and Commerce stream) held in March and April 2015, second and third toppers, subject toppers and A1 achievers in all subjects (Classes X and XII). Dr Amsa Parambil, vice president, school management committee did the honours for the meritorious students in Classes XI and IX while Biju Samuel, Convener, SMC, felicitated the A1 achievers in all subjects in Class VIII whereas Christopher Joe, Member, SMC did the honours for the toppers in Class VII and Jaikish Pavithran, Member, SMC gave away the mementos to the A1 winners in Class VI.
Apart from it, the head of the institution presented principal’s honours award and merit awards to those who secured 90 per cent and above in the annual examinations (Classes XI and XII) and those who topped in monthly contests in General Knowledge and Spelling Bee. Nikhila Anilkumar, member, SMC felicitated the staff who played an active role for making ‘ISD Resonance’- a musical night with violin maestro, Balabhaskar, a great success. Leena Francis, vice principal, proposed the vote of thanks and expressed her appreciation for the parents and teachers who helped the children achieve greater heights.
