New plan to address safety concerns of Ghala area
It is not easy to navigate through the industrial area. Most of the time, there is water shortage in the area. It is high time to undertake modernisation of the area,” said Sunil Kumar KK.
“I am happy to hear that the government is reviewing the area plan,” Kumar added.
Final layout
Last Wednesday, aimed at replanning of the Ghala Industrial Area project, allocation of land uses, development of infrastructure and to review the final layout for roads and infrastructure, the Supreme Council for Planning reviewed the proposals submitted by the Muscat Municipality.
The report was part of the national team for the development goals for 2015 which include the millennium development goals approved for the first stage (2000 to 2015).
Meanwhile, a few other company managers and workers hoped that the new plan will address the safety concerns of the industrial area.
Safety standards
“We hope that the safety standards in the industrial area will be upgraded. Many a times, lack of safety measures have resulted in fire accidents which has resulted in loss of property and life. We hope that the new plan addresses the safety concerns,” workers and company managers said.
The significance of developing the industrial estate in Ghala arises due to the expansion of Muscat International Airport and the associated new roads which will run close to Ghala.
Modernisation
“Modernisation of Ghala Industrial area is vital as the city is growing due to the expansion of Muscat airport and considering how close it is. If the modernisation doesn’t happen now, it will have an adverse impact in many ways,” the company mangers added.
