Forum debates steps to improve nursing leadership skills, services
The three-day ‘Nursing Future’ forum, which concluded on Tuesday, stressed the need to improve the basic skills of nursing leaderships with a view
to providing safe and quality care. The forum was organised by the Ministry of Health (MOH), represented by the Directorate General of Nursing Affairs.
The opening ceremony was held on Sunday under the auspices of Dr Ahmed bin Mohammed al Saeedi, Minister of Health, in the presence of Dr Mohammed bin Saif al
Hosni, MOH Under-secretary of Health Affairs, Dr Fatma bint Mohammed al Ajmiyah, MOH Under-secretary for Administrative, Financial and Planning Affairs, along with directors general and nursing section heads from various governorates.
The forum aimed to improve the basic skills of nursing leaderships to be able to innovate in nursing care for providing safe and quality care. It also aimed to promote the essential nursing care among the nursing groups, as well as the importance of scientific research and strategies in improving the nursing care practices and beneficiary satisfaction.
The forum included scientific sessions that highlighted the nursing future, strengthening the capacity of nursing groups in research and studies and expanding their roles in providing basic nursing services.
In all, 24 health institutions from various governorates across the country participated in the forum.
During the event, 11 nursing directors from different governorates, 13 hospitals and 6 retirees from nursing leaderships were honoured by the Minister of Health.
