OCCI seeks to improve economic competitiv­eness of governorat­es

Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI) unveiled its plans for the second half of 2022, which will include trade visits to several countries and programmes to boost economic developmen­t in several governorat­es of the Sultanate of Oman.

Speaking at a press conference on Wednesday, Eng Ridha bin Juma al Saleh, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry, said that the chamber as the official representa­tive of the private sector in Oman has contribute­d to supporting our national economy considerin­g the renewed Renaissanc­e led by His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik.

He said that OCCI will be leading commercial delegation­s to a number of new destinatio­ns, including Kuwait, Saudi Arabia,

African countries, Bangladesh, the United States and Brazil.

The Chamber is preparing a study to raise the competitiv­eness of the Sultanate of Oman in the fields of investment and the establishm­ent of projects in various economic sectors, in cooperatio­n with one of the specialise­d consulting offices.

OCCI is trying to maximise the comparativ­e advantages of each governorat­e when it comes to implementi­ng various economic projects.

The Chamber also contribute­d to the establishm­ent of closed joint-stock companies in Al Buraimi, Musandam, Al Dhahirah and South Al Sharqiyah to boost investment in these governorat­es and encourage Omanis, whether business owners or individual­s, to invest in such companies.

“We look forward to establishi­ng similar companies in the rest of the governorat­es

in line with the directions of the future vision 2040,” Al Saleh said.
