MUSCAT: Bank Muscat, the flagship financial services provider in the Sultanate, in line with its vision ‘To serve you better, everyday’ and commitment to partnership in sustainable development aimed at delivering long-term benefits to the community and the nation, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Ministry of Social Development to develop a football field with artificial grass for Al Wafa Centre for Disabled Children in the Wilayat of Bidbid.

The gesture benefiting children with special needs is aimed at helping them overcome challenges and integrate with the mainstream society. Bank Muscat is committed to supporting and helping the physically challenged to lead normal lives and thereby contribute to society. The bank is sensitive to the needs of physically challenged people and a true partner in supporting their needs.

Al Wafa Centre provides therapeutic and rehabilitation services aimed at integrating physically challenged children into mainstream society. The centre presently serves 115 physically challenged children from the wilayats of Bidbid and Samayil. The development of the playground will contribute to new activities benefiting the special needs children.

The support for Al Wafa Centre complements the bank’s Green Sports initiative to promote Oman as a sporting nation. The Green Sports CSR programme launched by Bank Muscat in 2012 has gained momentum with a total of 93 sports teams across the Sultanate benefiting from the support to green their fields till date.

The MOU with the Ministry of Social Development comes in a long succession of initiatives to support centres for the physically challenged across the country. In 2017, the bank supported Abdullah Bin Al Arqam School in Dima W’attayeen for development of a football field. Currently, the bank is developing a football field for Al Aman Centre in Al Khoudh.

As a forward looking financial institution, Bank Muscat is at the forefront in contributing to society and thereby setting a fine example to develop social responsibility as corporate culture. As the pioneer of CSR activities in the banking sector in Oman, Bank Muscat has implemented several initiatives benefiting various segments of society. Sustainability is the running theme in all stakeholder engagement initiatives and activities, ensuring lasting positive benefits aimed at strengthening ties with the local community.
