Nov 30: More than 60 frankincense products were showcased at the Omani Creations 4 exhibition at the Oman Convention & Exhibition Center.

Organised by Authority of SMEs Development (Riyada), these products were displayed in the areas of agriculture, fashion, medicine, food, perfumes, detergents, home accessories and many others.

Arzat Company, for instance, displayed its moisturising lotions, hair oil, frankincense oil for treating arthritis, eye gel, massage oil, herbal room and car freshener, pet spray, termite repellent spray, hand sanitiser, among other things.

Hamood al Rawahi, the vice-manager of the company, spoke about the “difficulties” they faced in exporting luban or frankincense to India, where the company is located.

“We use luban to support the local industry. We come out with new collections after scientific results achieved after three years of indepth research,” he said. Mariam al Shibly, from Omanbased Najed Company, said, “We make candles with frankincense smell, soaps and oils. Our products are known for their strong smell of luban.”

The company also deals with pottery items made by Omani craftsmen.

Khalid al Hinai, the owner of Ara- bian Spices and Food, says his company produces frankincense tea, which is used for treating asthma and allergies.

Noof al Saidi, a visitor, said the products are really “new and amazing”. “Entrepreneurs should focus more on marketing and promotion. They should let people know more about their products and their benefits.”

Yussra al Hatali, another visitor, said she was “seeing such products for the first time”.
