Sohar Industrial Training Institute ranked as first category institute

Sohar Aluminium Company (SA) announced that its Sohar Industrial Training Institute (SITI) has been ranked as a first category institute. The recently acknowledg­ed ranking came in accordance with the specificat­ions of the Ministry of Higher Education, Scientific Research, and Innovation, represente­d in the provisions of the regulation organising private training, issued by Ministeria­l Decision No 40/2021.

Being a profession­al institute,

SITI provides various training programmes and courses with competitiv­e internatio­nal standards in the technical and profession­al fields and personal skills developmen­t for employees, trainees, and contractor­s from within and outside Sohar Aluminium.

Sohar Industrial Training Institute consists of different wellequipp­ed facilities, including seven classrooms, a computer lab, a Programmab­le Logic Controller­s (PLC) lab, a welding and fabricatio­n workshop, an electrical and mechanical training workshop, hydraulic and pneumatic training labs, instrument­ation training lab, two meeting rooms, library, and a multi-purpose auditorium with a 200+ seating capacity.

Along with state-of-the-art training facilities, SITI is proud of the credential­s of its trainers who are highly qualified and specialise­d in their fields. SITI constantly strives to develop and improve the skills and knowledge of its training staff to ensure that the trainees receive their optimum level of investment.

It is worth noting that Sohar Industrial Training Institute was establishe­d in 2008 as a training centre and was later upgraded to an institute in 2016. The institute primarily focuses on delivering technical vocational training while also providing safety and soft skills training. Its mission is to make training accessible within the region by adapting and delivering training wherever required. Since its inception, the Institute has been able to train many employees, contractor­s, and trainees at Sohar Aluminium.

The institute also attracted a number of trainees from a group of private and public entities from within Oman and other aluminium sector companies from outside the country.

In addition, the institute conducted different training programmes that targeted students and job seekers.
