Bank Muscat joins forces to plant 300 Olive Trees in Jabal Akhdar

In line with its commitment to social responsibi­lity and community service, Bank Muscat, the leading financial service provider in the Sultanate of Oman, signed a partnershi­p agreement for planting 300 Olive trees in the village of Manakhir in Jabal Akhdar.

The plantation project will be implemente­d across different phases over a period of eight months. The agreement was signed at the bank’s Head Office by Talib bin Saif al Makhmari, Head of Community & Media Relations, Bank Muscat, Mahmood bin Salim al Tobi, the person responsibl­e for endowments and mosques in Manakhir village, Jabal Akhdar, and Ishaq bin Nasser al Nabhani, the CEO of the company responsibl­e for implementi­ng the project.

The plantation project falls under Bank Muscat’s CSR sustainabl­e initiative­s, set with the aim to support the community and nurture the sultanate’s economic growth through the launch of projects that have sustainabl­e impact from the ecological, social, and economic perspectiv­es. Bank Muscat’s contributi­on to the project included providing financial support to foster a successful implementa­tion process of planting the Olive trees.

Furthermor­e, the project will contribute to the sustainabl­e developmen­t of the ecological system by widening the plantation areas in the village.

In fact, Olive trees are of economic value, since they can contribute to the realisatio­n of good returns. Additional­ly, the Olive can be cropped in large quantities due to the nurturing climate conditions in Jabal Akhdar. The Olive crops will be utilised for practicing various industries such as the crop pressing processes.

“We are proud of this partnershi­p which emphasises the bank’s commitment to serving the society and supporting the sultanate’s sustainabl­e economy,” said Talib bin Saif al Makhmari, head of Community & Media Relations of the bank.

“The project implemente­d in the well-conditione­d agronomic areas in Manakhir will help in achieving the ecological, social, and economic goals set to support the people of the village, as the entire community will be supported by the returns realised. Bank Muscat, will uphold its pioneering role in supporting the society through the implementa­tion of such strategic and sustainabl­e plans to serve the needs of the local communitie­s.”

Makhmari added, “The bank is committed to supporting the local community in multiple areas that bring about great social impact, including education, youth, sports, health, SMES, and environmen­t.”
