The appointment of Olusegun Alebiosu as the Acting Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of First Bank of Nigeria Limited (FirstBank Group), effective April 2024, has captured the attention of stakeholders and industry observers alike. Alebiosu steps into this pivotal role with a wealth of experience, having served as the Executive Director, Chief Risk Officer, and Executive Compliance Officer since January 2022. His ascension follows the unexpected departure of Adesola Adeduntan, who vacated the position ahead of schedule.

Alebiosu’s professional journey began in 1991 with Oceanic Bank Plc. (now EcoBank Plc.), where he honed his skills before assuming key roles in prominent financial institutions. Prior to joining FirstBank in 2016, he held positions such as Chief Risk Officer at Coronation Merchant Bank Limited and Chief Credit Risk Officer at the African Development Bank Group. His academic background further underscores his qualifications for the role, with degrees from prestigious institutions including Harvard School of Government, University of Lagos, and London School of Economics and Political Science. A distinguished member of various professional bodies, Alebiosu is known for his unwavering commitment to excellence and ethical practices in the banking sector.
