Group Empowers Not-for-Profit Organisati­ons

Donors for Africa Foundation,

recently, inaugurate­d 30 non-profits and impact-led businesses to address the sustainabl­e developmen­t goals (SDGs), into its Social Innovators Boot Camp 2019/2020.

The developmen­t took place at a conference with the theme: ‘Building for Long Term Impact.’

The founder of the initiative,

Chidi Koldsweat, was quoted in a statement to have said, “for

Africa to experience long term developmen­t, especially in achieving the SDGs, we must empower social innovators and developmen­t leaders driving change at the community level with the technical expertise they need to implement their work successful­ly.

“This 3-month programme will

provide technical expertise to selected organisati­ons to help them address their organisati­onal difficulti­es, so they can access funds and continue to address developmen­t challenges in Africa. After the 12 weeks training, they will pitch for funds in a pitch fest and prizes will be awarded to three winners.” Also, the Executive Director, Skills Developmen­t

Organisati­on, Detoun Ogwo, reiterated the importance of honing individual organisati­on’s capacity to implement their work more efficientl­y. Steve Harris, Business Accelerato­r also stressed the need for not-for-profit organisati­ons run their operations like businesses, putting the right structures in place so they can build for long lasting impact-driven organisati­ons.
