Group Empowers Not-for-Profit Organisations
Donors for Africa Foundation,
recently, inaugurated 30 non-profits and impact-led businesses to address the sustainable development goals (SDGs), into its Social Innovators Boot Camp 2019/2020.
The development took place at a conference with the theme: ‘Building for Long Term Impact.’
The founder of the initiative,
Chidi Koldsweat, was quoted in a statement to have said, “for
Africa to experience long term development, especially in achieving the SDGs, we must empower social innovators and development leaders driving change at the community level with the technical expertise they need to implement their work successfully.
“This 3-month programme will
provide technical expertise to selected organisations to help them address their organisational difficulties, so they can access funds and continue to address development challenges in Africa. After the 12 weeks training, they will pitch for funds in a pitch fest and prizes will be awarded to three winners.” Also, the Executive Director, Skills Development
Organisation, Detoun Ogwo, reiterated the importance of honing individual organisation’s capacity to implement their work more efficiently. Steve Harris, Business Accelerator also stressed the need for not-for-profit organisations run their operations like businesses, putting the right structures in place so they can build for long lasting impact-driven organisations.
