Aguma, Rivers Attorney General Dies
The Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice of Rivers State, Emmanuel A gum a( SAN ), is dead. THIS DAY gathered that the Late A gum a died in a hospital in the United States of America of cancer of the colon. He was said to have been flown out of the state and had been on admission in the hospital for about four weeks before his death on Friday. A gum a was a Rivers State-born lawyer and member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). He was until his death the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice in the state. Between 2000 and 2002, Aguma worked as Secretary of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Port Harcourt Branch, and also chaired the Bar from 2006 to 2008. On July 10, 2015, the Legal Practitioners Privileges Committee conferred the rank of Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) on him alongside 20 others. He was sworn in on September 21, 2015. The Rivers State Government confirmed the incident. The state Commissioner for Information and Communications, Emma Ok ah, confirmed the death of the attorney general but did not give details. A statement signed by the state Publicity Secretary of A PC, Chris Fine bone, said :" The Rivers State Chapter of All Progressives Congress, APC, received with profound shock the news of the demise of one of the great son so four dear State, Barr. Emma Chin we A gum a, SAN, who until his death was the Rivers State Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice. The leadership and members of APC in Rivers State commiserate with the Aguma family and the entire people of Rivers State over Aguma’s death.
