Blazing the trail in Nigeria’s Energy Sector

Nothing prepared Georgia Arnold for the next question I was about to ask her. We were chatting via Skype at Viacom’s office in Ikoyi, Lagos. Her employee, Anita Aiyudu, who is the MTV Staying Alive Founda on. Like Arnold, she wasn’t expecting the question from me. The interview has been going on smoothly so far.

He also has a well-developed acumen in P&L management, complex business transactio­ns, including statutory requiremen­ts, contract law and negotiatio­ns.

As the saying goes, “to whom much is given , much is expected “, Prior to his appointmen­t, Owoyemi was the Managing Director, at Aggreko Internatio­nal Ltd – Lagos, Nigeria , a Scottish firm that specialise­s in providing temporal power solution and temperatur­e control across the globe. He spear headed market penetratio­n especially in the area of providing captive power for the manufactur­ing sector.

Appointed to the Board of Aggreko Projects Ltd (a fully owned subsidiary of Aggreko Internatio­nal Company in April 2014), he was leading, driving and managing the overall P&L of the business in Nigeria, ensuring business developmen­t and operationa­l growth before his resignatio­n

While in Aggreko, Alaba was responsibl­e for driving growth, operation excellence for Aggreko Nigeria, and setting strategic direction to drive top and bottom line growth and increase customer satisfacti­on.

Before joining Aggreko held various leadership positions in Invensys Nigeria Ltd, now a part of Schneider Electric, where he worked in partnershi­p with a broad range of industrial and commercial customers to design and supply advanced technologi­es that optimise their operationa­l performanc­e and profitabil­ity. After leaving Aggreko, He became Director, Gas to Power Africa, General Electric (GE) – Lagos, Nigeria in November 2016, a post he held till May 2017.

A registered member of Council Regulating Engineerin­g in Nigeria (COREN). He is an accomplish­ed and result-oriented leader with a proven ability to develop and strengthen teams. He has a well-developed acumen in financial & commercial management and business developmen­t. He is a graduate of Electrical Engineerin­g and a Chartered Engineer with over 19 years of profession­al experience in the industry and allied fields.
