‘Wikki Won’t Miss League Third Spot’

-

Wikki Tourists captain and right back, Mustapha Ibrahim has said his side cannot go below the third position in the ongoing league season.

The top flight newcomers are currently third on the 20-team log on 57 points with four matches on the season’s calendar.

Ibrahim said part of their resolve towards achieving the set target is to avoid defeat at fourth placed side, Giwa FC in match day 35 clash on Wednesday in Jos.

“Third place finish is the minimum target we set for ourselves in the ongoing league season as that’s the least to earn us a ticket to Africa.

“That’s why we are doubling our preparations and training for the clash at Giwa FC on Wednesday in Jos. “Now we understand that we cannot afford to drop point at Giwa FC as that will certainly cost us the third position.

“We share same 57 points with Giwa FC though we are better placed due to our superior goals but a defeat will see the Jos outfit leapfrog us and we will not want anything like that to happen. “So we have resolved to get something from the encounter at Giwa FC, at least, a point.

“The encounter is a northern derby and certainly going to be tough if not the toughest considering both sides position as well as ambition.

“We have equally told ourselves that anyone who does not have the required heart for the game should quietly avoid the match as it’s a game we are prepared to spill blood on the field of play to avoid defeat.

“We remain positive to amass enough points in the remaining four matches to earn us the ticket to Africa,” said Wikki Tourists strongman to supersport.com.

Aside the match day 35 clash at Giwa FC the Bauchi outfit will be on the road at El Kanemi Warriors with two home matches against Dolphins and champions, Kano Pillars.
