Buhari to Declare Open Diaspora Day Tuesday

President Muhammadu Buhari will on Tuesday next week, declare open this year’s Diaspora Day in Abuja.

This year’s programme is expected to create the much needed awareness on why it has become imperative for Nigerians living abroad to contribute to national developmen­t.

This was disclose by the Permanent Secretary on Political Affairs of the Office of the Secretary to Government of the Federation (OSGF), Mrs. Ibukun Odusote, who briefed journalist­s in Abuja yesterday.

She said the administra­tion of President Buhari was poised to ensure the nation’s economic growth.

She told journalist­s that this year’s Diaspora Day celebratio­n will address three key areas, which include, sustainabl­e healthcare delivery in Nigeria, sustainabl­e developmen­t through youth employment and enhancing education in Nigeria.

Buhari is expected to tour stands of exhibitors at the conference.

A pre-conference roundtable discussion programme is also expected to focus on investment opportunit­ies, available for Nigerians in the Diaspora.

On the first day of the ceremony according to Mrs. Odusote, four critical areas will be discussed which include support for return of nationals and pilot diaspora investment projects.
