NDIC Donates N40m Library to ESUT

Christophe­r Isiguzo The Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporatio­n (NDIC) has donated an ultra-modern library/ bookshop worth N40 million to Enugu State University of Science and Technology (ESUT) as part of its policy to support government’s programme in developing the education sector.

Commission­ing the bookshop named after the Vice-President, Namadi Sambo, the Chairman of NDIC, Ambassador Hassan Adamu, said the project is part of the company’s policy interventi­on in the country’s higher institutio­ns.

“It was named after the vice-president for his love for education, for what he has done as a former governor of Kaduna State. He put education at the forefront and in making Nigeria great.”

He disclosed that NDIC has intervened in virtually all federal and state universiti­es and ESUT is probably the last to benefit from the gesture. “As part of our interventi­on and social responsibi­lity, ESUT applied to us requesting for a library and we have granted the request.”

Adamu, who doubles as the Chancellor of the university, urged students to make good use of the library/bookshop as it was built to enhance their learning.

The Managing Director, Alhaji Umaru Ibrahim, said as a matter of policy, NDIC helps to fund various projects in universiti­es and other institutio­ns across the country for those that deserve them. That he said is the importance of the project.
