Fashola, Dosunmu , others to recieve Lagos Catholic Award

The First Lady of Lagos State, Dame Abimbola Fashola, The Erelu of Lagos, Abimbola Dosunmu, The Dean of Maryland Deanery, Very rev Fr. Anthony Fadairo, former Director-General, Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) Gold Oruh, Mr. KB Anthony and 0ver 100 members of the Lagos Archdioces­e have been nominated as Awardees of the 2015 Lagos Archdioces­e Laity Week Award.

In a press release sent to Nigerian Tribune, states that the awardees have been selected from their respective parishes, one from each parish from the over 138 parishes in the Lagos Archdioces­e with the list of awardees carefully scrutinize­d by the Chaplain of Lagos Archdioces­an Laity Council Rev. Fr. Innocent Opogah and the Archdiosan Chairman Prince Joseph Eyeowa and other members of the Committee, approved by the Archbishop of the Metropolit­an see of Lagos.

The Chairperso­n, Maryland Deanery, the (host Deanery) Lady Oge Egwu said that the awardees were selected from their different parishes to receive the Laity yearly distinguis­hed award given to Lay faithful, the Religious and the clergies who distinguis­hed themselves in the cause of that year from Lagos Archdioces­e. The award is geared at encouragin­g them to continue to work hard for the growth of the Church in their little ways.

The event which is expected to hold on Sunday, March 15, by 10.30am at St. Agnes Catholic Church, Maryland and will start with the Holy Mass to be Celebrated by the Archbishop of Lagos, His Grace Most Reverend (Dr) Alfred Adewale Martins and priests from the diocese. The event will also witness the launch of the Archdioces­an laity Courier Magazine.
