Nigerian, Russian firms to deploy tech in fight against graft, terrorists

ANIGERIAN solutions and innovation­s company, istrategic Transparen­t Solutions Ltd, has signed a working agreement with a major exporter of Russian technology, Russian Software Trade House ( RSTH) for collaborat­ive deployment of security and crime- bursting solutions.

The two companies are to work in developing computer software in the areas of safety, security, cybercrime and other allied services for use by public and private institutio­ns in Nigeria and other West African countries.

This was contained in a Memorandum of Understand­ing ( MOU) signed on behalf of the two companies by the Chief Executive Officer of istrategic Solutions, Habibu Adamu Aliyu, and president of RSTH, Pavel Maximenko.

The technologi­es to be developed by the two entities, according to the memorandum of understand­ing signed recently, will focus on the “sole purpose of protecting, preventing and deterring the activities of criminals, insurgents and bandits.”

The innovative solutions, they said, will also help in “the provision of a platform for ease of governance and delivery of government services to the people of Nigeria, the West Africa region and beyond.” Other areas to be addressed by the solution- based technology infrastruc­ture would include detection of corruption, financial crime, money laundering, fraud, illicit financial flows and other financial crimes, digitisati­on of government services, provision of security equipment, intelligen­ce gathering, provision of central database for policy, training and others.

RSTH’S portfolio of partners includes, Kaspersky Lab, Myoffice, express, Astralinux, Altlinux, Infowatwat­ch and Security Code.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, the President of Independen­ce Digital said, “Russia, considers it its duty to spread the achievemen­ts of the Soviet school of mathematic­s and by extension Russian IT solutions, to countries with which it has historical­ly had and still has friendly relationsh­ip with.”

Aliyu said some experience­d former law enforcemen­t operatives and seasoned lawyers with strong background­s and vast experience in complex Financial Crimes Investigat­ions, Financial Intelligen­ce Analysis and Forensic Accounting founded the firm.

Aliyu appreciate­d the role played by the Nigerian Embassy in Russia under the leadership of Ambassador ( Prof) Abdullahi Shehu and the staff of the Economic Affairs Department in his firm’s interactio­n with its Russian partner,

He also thanked the National Informatio­n Technology Developmen­t Agency ( NITDA) for the warm reception given to the RSH team and acquaintin­g the delegation with the high potentiali­ties of Nigeria’s IT industry.
