Army redeploys senior officers in major shake-up

THE military high command has redeployed senior officers in a fresh major reshuffle.

A statement yesterday by Army spokesman, Sagir Musa, said Maj.-gen. H.O. Otiki had been moved to 8 Division, Sokoto as General Officer Commanding (GOC) while his predecesso­r, Maj.Gen. S.O. Olabanji, heads for the Infantry Corps Centre as Commander.

Brig.-gen. H.I. Bature leaves 34 Brigade to Headquarte­rs Training and Doctrine Command as Director Examinatio­ns and Brig.-gen. T.O. Olowomeye from Headquarte­rs 33 Brigade goes to Army Headquarte­rs Department of Civil-military Affairs as Director Civil Military Affairs.

In the same vein, Brig.-gen. B.A. Mohammed was redeployed from 23 Brigade to Martin Luther Agwai Internatio­nal Peace Keeping Centre as Deputy Commandant and Brig.Gen. U.M. Bello from Headquarte­rs, Training and Doctrine Command to 63 Brigade as Commander.

Brig.-gen. M.T. Durowaiye moves to 33 Brigade as Commander from the Directorat­e of Army Transforma­tion and Innovation.

Also affected are Brig.-gen. S.B. Kumapayi of Army Headquarte­rs Department of Civil-military Affairs, who now resumes at Headquarte­rs 14 Brigade as Commander and Brig.-gen. N.M. Jega who leaves Headquarte­rs 2 Brigade to 9 Brigade as Commander. Commander, 16 Brigade, Brig.-gen. K.O. Aligbe, to resume at Defence Headquarte­rs as Acting Director Liaison, National Assembly; Brig.-gen. A.K. Ibrahim vacates 14 Brigade for Army Headquarte­rs Department of Administra­tion as Deputy Director, Veteran Affairs Department Retired Officers’ Cell while Brig.-gen. G.T.O. Ajetunmobi bids Headquarte­rs Command, Army Records for the commanders­hip of 31 Brigade.

The reshuffle also saw Brig.Gen. O.G. Onubogu leaving Army Headquarte­rs Department of Army Policy and Plans for Headquarte­rs 16 Brigade as Commander. Brig.-gen. O.M. Bello departs the Nigerian Army Resource Centre to Headquarte­rs 6 Division as Chief of Staff. Brig.-gen. Z.L. Abubakar of the National Defence College goes to 32 Brigade as Commander and Brig.-gen. A.A. Orukotan from Nigerian Army Resource Centre got deployed to Headquarte­rs Command Army Records as Chief of Staff.
