Our aim is to make Ahlan Cup best pre-season tourney- Danladi

The Chairman of the Organising Committee for this year’s Ahlan Cup Barrister Isaac Danladi has said the objective is to make the annual competitio­n the best preseason tournament in Nigeria.

The tournament which is in its third edition will commence on October 6 to 15 with some of the top clubs in the Nigeria Profession­al Football League in attendance.

The pre-season tournament which is sponsored by the chairman of Kano State FA Alhaji Sherif Rabiu Inuwa started in 2017 and has continued to grow in leaps and bounds.

Danladi who said 18 teams are expected at this year’s tournament said clubs from neighbouri­ng Niger Republic and Chad will be featuring in this edition.

He also said at this year’s tournament awards would be given to some Nigerians in appreciati­on of their tireless contributi­ons to football developmen­t in the country.

Danladi who spoke to dasportsta­inment247.com said “I am pleased to inform you that we have 18 teams that have shown interest to attend the tournament.

“We are going to be welcoming teams from the West coast as well. Two teams from Niger Republic and Chad have confirmed their participat­ion while Rivers United are already on their way.

“Enyimba, Kano Pillars, Plateau United, MFM or 3SC, Gombe United, Kwara United, Wikki Tourists, Katsina United, Lobi Stars, Nasarawa United, Abia Warriors, Kada City among others have agreed to take part.

“We want the Ahlan Cup to rate as the best pre-season tournament in Nigeria and so many activities have been put in place to make it very lively. There will be various prizes to be won and fans will be entertaine­d as well.”
