Katsina Utd’s Ashadi satisfied with draw at Lobi Stars

- By David Ngobua

Katsina United playmaker, Destiny Ashadi has expressed satisfaction with the away point earned against defending champions, Lobi Stars of Makurdi on Sunday.

In one of the rescheduled NPFL matches, the ‘Chanji Boys’ from Katsina State were forced to a 1-1 draw by the host after Yaya Kone converted a penalty awarded to his team in 68th minute to cancel out Martins Usule’s 12th minute goal.

Although the CAF Champions League campaigners did everything to take the maximum points, Katsina United’s defence refused to cave in till the blast of the final whistle.

Speaking to Daily Trust, Ashadi said he was happy with his team’s first way point this season but said Lobi Stars were aided to deny his team the three points.

The Super Eagles Team B player said Katsina United were not allowed to play their own game as every of their moves were cut short by the match officials.

He, however, said Katsina United would build on the away draw to get more points on the road. “I am personally happy that we were able to come out with a point from the match.

“It was possible for us to run away with victory but Lobi Stars had the support of the referees. Most of our moves were aborted even before we could get to our opponents’ area. They didn’t allow us to play our game.

“We are going to build on this away point as we face future opponents especially in away matches. With level playing field, we can still win more points on the road.

“Officiating in the league has improved so much but there are still some questionable decisions. A level playing field for all teams at all times will make the league better,” he noted.
