1000 Fulani settlements gets Gov’s wife free medical services
The MALLPAI Foundation of the wife of Kebbi State Governor, Haiya Aisha Abubakar Bagudu, has provided free medical services and education to1000 Fulani settlements in the state since its inception, the project coordinator, Nurudeen Nasarawa has said.
He said project was driven by the desire to add value to the lives of the less-privileged and making society a better place to coexist.
“Between 2015 to 2017, it had graduated more than 8000 young people from its vocational training centres, he said.
He said the youths were trained in tailoring, plumbing, hairdressing, electrical installation, carpentry, cosmetology, satellite installation and welding. He also said the foundation, in 2017 enrolled more than 1000 Almajiri, males and females, in adult education classes.
“The foundation also bought West African Examination Council (WAEC) and the National Examination Council (NECO) forms for the Almajiris and many of them passed with good results. The successful ones are now in universities, colleges of education sponsored by the foundation,” he said.
The coordinator said MALLPAI has also engaged in free education for prenursery adult class to eradicate mass illiteracy and add value to the lives of the less privileged youths across the 21 local government areas of the state.
He said: “The foundation is training the young and unskilled youths to enable them secure either paid or self-employment in their locality on completion of their training.
The youths are specifically encouraged to learn how to produce, package, sell and export their goods.”
Nasarawa said the foundation was founded in 2009 to help rural dwellers in areas of health and educating their children.
