First Bank, 9mobile, 6 others for Corporate Champions Cup

Eight companies will on Sunday, August 12 fight for the silver plated trophy in the 0.83 metres of the fourth edition of the Remita Corporate Champions’ Cup (RC3). The event will come up at the Yabatech sports complex in Lagos.

The companies have indicated interest to participat­e in the tournament are First Bank and FCMB in the banking category; IHS and 9mobile in telecommun­ications; Unilever and Friesland Campina are in the FMCG category, while Leadway Insurance and Credit Direct will compete in the three weeks (Sunday only) tournament.

In the quarter-final pairings on August 12, the first match will be between Friesland and 9mobile by 12pm and the second match will be played between First Bank and Unilever, the third match will be between Leadway and Credit Direct while the last match will be between IHS and FCMB.

The semi-final on Sunday, August 19 will be between Winner 1 and 3 and Match 6 will be played by winner 2 and 4. Both the third place and final matches to determine the winner will be played on August 26.

According to the Managing Director of System Specs, John Obaro, the RC3 trophy will feature an ambassador, Peter Rufai, penalty kicks, performanc­e by Reminisce, trophy tour to the headquarte­rs of the two finalists and proceeds donated to charity of winners’ choice.

He said the criterion for playing at the competitio­n is to be a bonafide employee of any of the corporate organizati­ons. He reassured the public that there would be no mercenary; rather, only core employees will be allowed to participat­e in the tournament.

Besides the trophy, there will be medals for players, gifts for every match and prize for the winners including the first and second runner-up.
