Police arrest cultist, 3 others for armed robbery in Ogun
Police in Ogun have arrested a man identified as a most wanted cultist in the state and three other suspected armed robbers.
The suspect, Mic heal Agbeyangi a.k.a Alhaji Godonu, who has been on the wanted list of the command for the past three years, was arrested yesterday by police operatives attached to Owode-Egbado Division.
The command spokesman, Abimbola Oyeyemi, disclosed yesterday that the suspect had been linked to several cult clashes in Owode-Egbado and environs and death of many citizens.
He said an axe, a sword and assorted charms were recovered from him and that the Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Iliyasu, has ordered that the suspect be transferred to the Anti-Kidnapping and Cultist section for further investigation.
The spokesman further disclosed that three members of an armed robbery syndicate that have been terrorizing Ogijo, Sagamu and its environs were arrested on Saturday during one of their robbery operations.
Oyeyemi said policemen attached to Ogijo Divisional Headquarters received a distress call from Baale Street, Molatori Ogijo that robbers have invaded a residence.
“Having received the distress call, the DPO Ogijo Division, SP Tijani Mohammed led his Antirobbery men to the scene where they engaged the hoodlums in gun duel.
“At the end of the encounter, three members of the syndicate namely; Yusuf Odugbemi, Tunde Asamu, and Sunday Azeez all males were arrested while others escaped.
“Recovered from them are; one live cartridge, two cutlasses and assorted charms,” he said.
