Sen. Shehu Sani failed to sponsor bill converting Kadpoly

-

It is no longer news that the federal government has plans to convert the premier Kaduna Polytechnic (KadPoly) into City University of Technology, but this has to go through a legislative process. Aware of this, there would be need for a Senator to sponsor a Bill to this effect, preferably a Senator representing the zone the institution is located, example of this is what Senator Gbenga Ashafa of Lagos East did in which he sponsored the Bill seeking to convert Yaba Tech into a University of technology, same which should be done with KadPoly. It is unfortunate that in KadPoly’s case, the senator representing Kaduna Central Zone, Senator Shehu Sani which KadPoly is located failed to sponsor the Bill seeking to convert it to university, it took the effort of a Senator from Kano state to sponsor this bill, it is disheartening, especially as this Senator claims he’s a graduate of the same KadPoly, it is not surprising though, because this Senator, instead of concentrating on his legislative duties dedicates more of his time to engage his state governor (Nasiru Ahmed El-Rufai) in a fruitless political war, a fruitless political war because the governor doesn’t even care about the Senator’s rants. The Senator is two years into his tenure and his score card is too poor, even when he had the opportunity to enhance his score card by sponsoring this all important bill which seeks to upgrade an institution in his constituency and his Alma Mata into a university. It is rather unfortunate and I hope the Senator sees this as his legislative failure. He should leave the Kaduna state governor alone and face his legislative duties. It is a big slap on his face for a Senator from Kano state to sponsor an important bill that affects an institution located in his (Shehu Sani’s) senatorial zone. Finally, I call on the people of Kaduna Central he represents to put this question to him, Why didn’t he sponsor the bill seeking to convert KadPoly into a university?
