Equities record N193bn gain

Trading on the Equities segment of the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) market closed yesterday on a positive note, as the market capitaliza­tion added N193 billion to close at N8,908 trilion

The NSE All Share Index (ASI) appreciate­d by +2.21% to close at 25,747.05 basis points, as against -0.37% depreciati­on recorded previously. Its Year-toDate (YTD) returns currently stands at -4.20%.

The trading activities indicate that a total of 211 million shares, valued at N1.4 billion exchanged hands in 3,054 deals.

Market breadth closed positive as WAPCO led 19 Gainers against 11 Losers topped by NASCON at the end of today’s session- an unimproved performanc­e when compared with previous outlook.

WAPCO gained N4.71 to close at N50.71. DANGCEM gained N6.00 to close at N165. 7UP gained N4.00 to close at N93.95. whle Stanbic gained N1.02 to close at N21.49. Nestle lost the biggest value on its unit price as it shed N36.80 t close at N713.50

Market turnover closes positive as volume moved up by 23.40% against 16.04% uptick recorded in the previous session. DIAMONDBNK, TRANSCORP and FIDELITYBK were the most active to boost market turnover. ZENITHBANK and SEPLAT topped market value list.

WAPCO leads the list of active stocks that recorded impressive volume spike at the end of today’s session.
