FG to stock wheat for price stability
States have appealed to the Federal Government to make plans for the purchase of excess wheat to ensure price stability and sustainable production.
The Minister of Agriculture and Natural Resources, Audu Ogbeh, said this yesterday while addressing State House reporters after a meeting of the National Economic Council.
Ogbeh stated that the council was informed of the massive wheat production in Jigawa, Kano, Kebbi, Zamfara and other states.
He said the NEC agreed to discuss and make adequate buy-back arrangements in order to support price stability.
Budget and National Planning Minister Udoma Udoma assured the council that Federal Government’s recovery plan would take the nation out of the current economic recession.
He said consultations on the plan were ongoing to firm-up the plan with clear roles for all the stakeholders and the states.
