Lawal labels 3SC match a must win for Wikki Tourists

- By David Ngobua

Wikki Tourists striker, Abubakar Lawal has said his side’s week 36 match against 3SC of Ibadan is a must win because the result will determine the fate of his team as far as winning the league title is concerned.

Last Sunday, Wikki gave their title ambition a huge boost when they defeated hard fighting Rivers United 1-0 in Bauchi.

Although the victory did not return them to the top of the log, it at least took them to a touching distance of their first league title.

Wikki now in third place on 54 points will have to avoid defeat against 3SC in Ibadan, hoping that Rivers United and Rangers suffer misfortune in their ties against Abia Warriors and Ikorodu United.

The former Flying Eagles striker told Daily Trust that the victory over Rivers is now history as they are now focused on beating 3SC in their next match to get closer to their first title.

Lawal said the remaining matches are like world Cup finals so Wikki Tourists will not spare anything on the field of play to get the maximum points.

“We have an uphill task in Ibadan against 3SC but we are not worried. I know that we are equal to the task. None of the remaining matches will come easy. Our eyes are firmly fixed on the league title. If we can get the three points against 3SC, we would come home and finish it up against Sunshine Stars,” he said.

Lawal therefore called on his team mates to maintain their focus urging them to finish strongly.
