UK raises Nigeria’s Chevening scholarship slots to 45
The slots for Nigeria in the United Kingdom’s Chevening scholarships have been raised from 13 to 45, British High Commission officials confirmed to Daily Trust yesterday.
Chevening Scholarship Officer, Jibike Faborode and other officials during a courtesy visit to Daily Trust headquarters in Abuja yesterday said the increase in the slots would give more Nigerians the opportunity to get the award to study in the UK.
The scholarship is opened to Nigerian graduates for application into a one year Master’s degree in any subject and at any UK university.
Faborode said the application for the scholarship which had earlier commenced in August will close by November 3.
“The British High Commission is organising a question and answer session for interested candidates tomorrow on facebook site www.facebook. com/ukinnigeria for interested candidates,” she said.
The session, according to her, will address all questions on the application process and requirements which include work experience, references, language test, university and course choices.
Faborode also noted that there is an opening for Chevening/ Oxford Centre for Islamic Studies Fellowship which offers financial support to individuals to undertake a period of independent study and research at the centre.
The fellowship which is a six months programme offered to mid career professionals is open to all Islamic scholars, clerics and academics to learn more on the culture and civilization of Islam and all aspects of contemporary Muslim societies in the global context.
