Sambo: I’m proud to have been Jonathan’s deputy

- By Isiaka Wakili

Vice President Mohammed Namadi Sambo says he is proud to have been President Goodluck Jonathan’s deputy for five years.

Sambo stated this yesterday when a delegation of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Christian community paid Jonathan Easter homage at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa, Abuja.

Jonathan chose Sambo as his deputy on May 12, 2010 following the death of former President Umaru Yar’Adua which catapulted him (Jonathan) to the position of president. They also successfully ran together for the 2011 presidential poll. Sambo was Jonathan’s running mate in the March 28, 2015 presidential election which they lost to retired General Muhammadu Buhari.

Sambo said yesterday that Jonathan had groomed him to “a PhD level” for five years; a period, he said, students of conventional universities would have spent to obtain first and master’s degrees.

He praised Jonathan for conceding defeat in the March 28 presidential election, saying that act had saved the nation and made it the pride of Africa.

Sambo, who noted that the president’s name would forever be written in gold in the history of the world, said he would eternally be loyal to him (Jonathan).

The vice president said all Nigerians deeply and sincerely appreciated Jonathan’s positive contributions to the development of the country.
