Group petitions Kwali chairman over youth council election
The Amalgamated Youth Association of Kwali Area Council has written a petition to the chairman of the council, Mr. Ibrahim Daniel, over the recent election that produced new executives for the Kwali branch of National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN).
In a petition, titled: “There was no Youth Council Election In Kwali Area Council,” signed by the Public Relation Officer (PRO) of the association, Comrade Yusuf Isah Dangara, the association alleged that the new executives were picked without recourse to the congress which has the mandate of ratifying all the nominees of the electoral committee.
The petition read in part: “The members were picked without recourse to the general congress of the associations, which has the mandate of ratifying all nominees of the electoral committee.
“Sir, it will interest you to know that the electoral committee never sold nomination forms to interested contestants nor did it carry out any neither screening exercise nor validation as stipulated in the constitution.”
The petition further alleged that all the members of the electoral committee resigned their appointment few hours before the arrival of the security agents due to irreconcilable differences.
It added: “The irony of the matter is that only 25 out over 100 registered youth associations took part in the election, which brought the credibility of the election into question.’’
