Lee says NBA needs to investigate Wizards assistant

-

New York Knicks Courtney Lee was wide open on the 3-point line, with his team down by three, with five seconds left in the game and he passed the ball. The possession ultimately goes wasted as he didn’t send a clean pass, and the Knicks lose another close game.

New York fans were upset at Lee for not taking the wide-open shot, but Lee was upset at something else: the Wizards assistant that was on the court.

“I thought it was one of their players because I was getting ready to shoot and in my peripheral you see a body right there and he is saying, ‘I am right here! I am right here! I got your stunt!’” Lee said after the game, via ESPN.

“Usually in basketball terminology, that is a switch or I am going to jump out, so I shotfaked and drove. I still should have shot the shot.”

Many Knicks players on the court saw what happened, and were just as upset as Lee. CenterKyle O’Quinn said, “At any level, you can’t do that.”

Carmelo Anthony added, “They have six players on the court.”

The man who interfered with Lee’s shot was assistant coach Sidney Lowe, and the Knicks believe he should be investigated for his actions.

“I think it’s something they [the NBA] need to take a look at,” Lee said. “Being a basketball player you play off of instincts, and if you hear somebody right there, that’s why I try to make the right play. But I still should have shot it.”
