Club owners suspend Kano Pillars boss Yahaya Surajo indefinitely
The chairman of Kano Pillars FC, Yahaya Surajo has been suspended indefinitely by the Football Club Owners Association of Nigeria for his unsportsmanlike conduct during the rescheduled NPFL Match Day 31 between Kano Pillars FC and Dakkada FC on Thursday in Kano.
The Club Owners condemned Surajo’s physical assault of Assistant Referee AR1 in the match which was captured on video and provided to the Association, as sad, unacceptable, and a poor reflection of what the Association stands for.
It will be recalled that Pillars were leading 1-0 with few minutes left to play before Dakkada FC equalised.
Surajo then ran to the touchline, punched the assistant referee, Mr Daramola from Ekiti State. Few minutes later, the goal scored by Dakkada was cancelled after the center referee had consulted with the assistant referee.
“The club owners have therefore placed the chairman of Kano Pillars FC Malam Yahaya Surajo on indefinite suspension from all activities of the Association forthwith pending the outcome of a detailed investigation into the unfortunate incident,” Alloy Chukwuemeka, the Executive Secretary of the Association said in a statement.
Club Owners comprised of astute football Administrators across the country who have distinguished themselves in several fields of human
endeavours with the expected high level of discipline in the management of their various clubs, hence the action of Surajo did not represent his status as a member of the Association.
The Association frowned at his behaviour which has brought the game to disrepute, coming less than 48hours after a joint meeting of the LMC and Club Owners exco had warned against acts capable of causing negative image to the League.
The chairman of the Association Chief Barr. Isaac Danladi has therefore directed that the Kano Pillars boss Surajo would face a disciplinary committee to defend his action or otherwise, before he could be readmitted into the club Owners Association.
