That attack on ex-President Jonathan’s home

Let me use this medium to condemn the recent attack on the country home of former President Goodluck Jonathan at Otuoke in Bayelsa State. Unfortunat­ely, a soldier was reportedly killed during the attack.

It is unfortunat­e that such a highly placed citizen could be easily attacked. The act calls for sober reflection and deep thinking.

At this point, the need for protection of Nigerians from criminals cannot be overemphas­ized. In fact, such act could cause serious crisis within the polity.

I commend the timely condemnati­on of the incident by President Muhammadu Buhari when he personally called Jonathan to sympathise with him.

Also worthy of applause is President Buhari’s assurance that the protection of the life of the former president and all the citizens of this country would continue to be the major preoccupat­ion of his administra­tion.

Kudos to FG for releasing Dasuki, Sowore

The release of a former National Security Adviser (NSA), Col Sambo Dasuki (rtd) after four years in detention despite various charges and litigation­s against him has proved that this government has a listening ear.

Also, the publisher of Omoyele Sowore, after his re-arrest despite court orders gives credence to Federal Government’s intention to obey the law at the appropriat­e time.

In fact, the surprise release of the two people from the detention of the Department of State Services, ordered through the office of the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, gives credibilit­y to the obedience to rule of law of the present administra­tion. release of the
