SBS to launch new service

- TIM NEWMAN

SBS Bank has announced a new partnership with Australian company Sandstone Technology to offer a new digital banking service to its members.

The project is SBS’ first collaboration with the financial technology company, cofounded by New Zealander Bob Hall.

SBS Bank chief executive Shaun Drylie said the partnership with Sandstone was a strategically important one for the bank.

‘‘Sandstone’s digital banking credentials and focus on the end-to-end member experience across its solutions, is closely aligned with what we were looking to achieve.

‘‘We’ve now got a solution which allows members to complete their banking where and when it suits them, all while still receiving the same great SBS service across all of our channels.’’

Drylie said as well as providing members with a mobile banking app, there would now be more opportunities to further innovate.

‘‘We can add to that app more nimbly, but we can also provide other technological solutions – members will see those developments happen a lot more quickly in the future.

‘‘We’re 148 years young, but we want to be at the forefront going forward.’’

Sandstone chief executive Julian Blackley said the partnership between the companies had got off to a good start.

‘‘Our respective teams worked extremely well together from the outset with a joint focus on delivering value to the bank’s members in a relatively short time to market.

‘‘We are genuinely excited about what lies ahead – this is just the beginning of a longer-term relationship with the growing SBS Group.’’
