Feel better with a massage

-

Now that summer is here I would like to talk to everyone about exercise. Actually, I should say movement. Every bit of movement counts.

We don’t really need to sign up for classes to be doing movement. It is all about getting up and about.

Think about your day and what you do, such as the extra bending, lifting and pushing needed to mow the lawn, do grocery shopping and housework. The stretching required to hang washing on the line, make the bed and clean windows all counts as movement. Ideas to get us on our feet include walking the dog, gardening, using the stairs, or a quick walk through the mall.

The important thing is to find a sport or activity you like so you find it easier to commit to. Something that makes your heart beat faster encourages you to breathe deeper, increasing your smile and therefore improving your day.

Don’t try to make big changes in your life. Start off with a small change, get that established before adding another change. Over a few months you will notice these become a habit and you will have more success.

Many people who participate in outdoor sports do not prepare themselves for the stress these activities can place on their bodies. As a result, a combination of inadequate preparation and intermittent yet intense periods of activity can lead to post-exercise soreness, strains, pulled muscles or worse. A good massage therapist will help you prepare for and recover from this exercise.

Movement and massage go hand in hand. The muscles can’t move well if there is restriction of any kind.

Come and have a massage treatment designed just for you to sort out those troublesome areas. It will help to put a spring back into your step.

Massage also makes us more aware of our bodies, reduces stress, lowers blood pressure, and is helpful for anxiety, headaches, insomnia, pain relief, soft tissue injuries and helping to reduce those digestive disorders.

Please don’t be concerned about what is under your clothes. After over 35 years as a nurse, I have seen it all. I promise not to laugh at you.

An ounce of preparation is better than a ton of treatments months later. By having a massage that targets the correct areas, you can enjoy your seasonal activities while remaining healthy and injury free.

Do neck and shoulder exercises while in the warmth of the shower. I have some delightfully easy to do exercises that cost nothing. Come along and learn these while having a massage.

A regular ‘‘warrant of fitness’’ and body service does wonders for our well-being. Imagine a warm room, soft lights, gentle music, lying on a comfortable massage table having your cares and worries massaged away.

My times and prices are to suit us both.
