Delight Your Senses

Discover the Rioja wine brand making colourful waves in New Zealand this September, with a Spanish-themed pop-up at one of Auckland’s most prominent bars

-

Calling all wine lovers — this is one sensory experience you do not want to miss. Campo Viejo, the number one Rioja wine brand globally, is bringing a taste of Spain to Auckland’s Longroom for a month-long celebration of Spanish culture this September.

Every curated event will create a fully immersive experience — a bold celebration of what it means to live the expressive Spanish lifestyle and to live in the moment.

A MATCH MADE IN WINE HEAVEN

Adhering to the message of living a life uncorked, this series of bespoke events kicks off on September 2 with a custom menu that pairs Spanish dishes with one of five delicious Campo Viejo wines.

Keen imbibers are encouraged to expand their wine repertoires by sampling the rich, fruit-driven wines created using the Rioja grape — Campo Viejo Tempranillo, Reserva and Gran Reserva. Sparkling lovers will be won over by Cava Brut Reserva, but most exciting is the pale yet vibrant new Spanish wine, Campo Viejo Rosé.

IN VIVID COLOUR

On September 3 and 4, guests can watch as Madridbased street artist 3TTMAN (real name Louis Lambert) creates a live art installation inspired by the Campo Viejo brand. Once created, the bespoke, piece will stay on as a colourful mural throughout the rest of the month.

The artist has travelled the world sharing his provocatively visual art as a partner in Campo Viejo’s #StreetsofColour message, with Auckland being the seventh country to get the 3TTMAN colour treatment. A WINE TASTING LIKE NO OTHER Ending the month on a high note, global Campo Viejo ambassador Federico Lleonart is set to host New Zealand’s first-ever 360-degree colour tasting experience known as ColourLab.

The well-travelled wine ambassador adds sommelier, mixologist, wine writer and wine educator to his long list of accolades, and is eager to share his extensive knowledge and passion about Rioja winemaking with New Zealanders.

Following the ColourLab launch party pegged for September 25, guests are able to secure spots for either of the nightly sessions at 6.30pm or 7.30pm from September 26-28.

This expert-led, interactive wine tasting uses light to alter the environment — helping participants to understand the impact of colour on their enjoyment of wine, and how surroundings affect their interpretation of flavour. Guests are welcome to extend their experience well into the evening by indulging in the Campo Viejo Spanish menu after the event concludes.

Tickets are $25 which includes Campo Viejo tastings, followed by a glass of the Campo Viejo Tempranillo or Rosé.

Viva is delighted to have a double pass to the Campo Viejo ColourLab experience to give away. Visit Viva.co.nz/win-campo-viejo to enter.

POWER IN ITS PROVENANCE

Campo Viejo first put down roots in the Rioja wine region in Spain in 1959. Over the past 60 years, the brand has become synonymous with the contemporary, fruity flavours of the region’s signature grape, and famed for its fresh and vibrant expression of Spanish winemaking.

The all-female provenance of the brand is emphasised with the leadership of Campo Viejo’s chief winemaker Elena Adell, who was named as the first female oenologist in the Spanish wine industry. Adell and her team have helped put Rioja’s signature Tempranillo variety on the world stage, thanks to their innovative and colourful winemaking methods.

After taking out the esteemed award of Spain Winery of the Year six times at international wine competitions held in New York and Berlin, Campo Viejo continues to push the boundaries of traditional winemaking in order to deliver modern expressions of Spanish wine to more than 70 countries across the globe.
